Placeomapia is an alternative form of mapping using photography. Web mapping applications popularized the traditional cartography enabled by digital tools. The world is depicted trough stylized rendering of geodata. Placeomapia, on the other hand looks at cartography through a personalized, selective way of representing the world relevant to ones own life. Maps are build by assembling geotagged photographs of places, organized by their real world proximity. In short the basic cartographic unit is a place.

This site is dedicated to the promotion and aggregation of ideas, projects, writings, images and more in support of the concept.
